Education Options at UW-Superior
UW-Superior
offers a wide range of options to accommodate the education needs of traditional
and nontraditional students.
Programs leading to a degree
Undergraduate (bachelor’s degree): Academic programs of at least 120 semester credits leading to a bachelor’s degree.
Extended Degree: Residents of Wisconsin, Minnesota and other states who want to pursue a bachelor’s degree from their home. Applicants work through the Extended Degree Program and must be admitted to the university.
Graduate Studies: Academic programs leading to a Master of Arts, Master of Science in Education or Specialist in Education degree.
Associate
Degree: A 60-semester-credit program leading to an Associate Degree.
Other education programs
Continuing Education/Extension: Credit and noncredit classes and workshops for people seeking continuing professional education and lifelong learning.
Distance Learning Center: Complete a bachelor's degree from home through the Extended Degree program or enroll in individual online courses.
Superior English as a Second Language Institute: Program for international students who have good basic English language skills but need additional practice to reach the proficiency level necessary to pursue international careers or course work in colleges and universities in the United States.
Special
Adult Students: Anyone taking courses at UW-Superior but not seeking
a degree.
Pre-College Programs
UW-Superior offers programs to help young people explore careers and university life, to improve their academic abilities, and to take university courses while still in high school.
Cybersummer
Cybersummer
is a one-week summer computer technology camp for students of color entering
grades 6 through 8 in Milwaukee Public Schools. Students use UW-Superior's
computer labs to learn more about computers and information technology.
They take daily field trips to see how computers are used in business and
government, and they explore computer-related careers.

Native American
Youthsummer
Native American
Youthsummer is a career exploration program for Native American students
in grades 6 through 10 from the Bad River, Red Cliff and Lac Court Oreilles
reservations of Wisconsin. Students take part in field trips, discussions,
classes and other activities that enable them explore careers in the arts,
sciences and computers and to meet professionals in various career fields.
The program is offered free to students through the Wisconsin Department
of Public Instruction. Food and housing are provided.

Upward Bound
UW-Superior
offers the Upward Bound program for eligible students attending Superior
Senior High School who face challenges in pursuing higher education without
additional support. During the academic year, students receive tutoring,
counseling and study skills training to help them improve their grades
and self-confidence. They also visit college campuses, attend plays, concerts
and lectures; and build relationships through social, recreational and
cultural activities. During the summer, Upward Bound students participate
in a six-week residency program on the UW-Superior campus.

Youthsummer
Youthsummer
offers young people ages 13 through 17 opportunities to explore careers,
learn life sports and hobbies, and sample university life. Students can
take part in one or more of approximately 50 five-day sessions offered
in June and July. Each session provides students an opportunity for hands-on
learning through activities, field trips, workshops, and discussions. No
tests or grades are given. Students live in supervised university residence
halls and meet people their own age from around the country. Commuter and
resident plans are available, with the resident plan offering food and

Youth Options
The Youth
Options program enables high school juniors and seniors to enroll in one
or more courses at an institution of higher education in Wisconsin. School
districts are required to pay the cost of tuition, books and fees and to
determine whether the course satisfies state graduation and high school
credit requirements.
