Visual Arts Major
Bachelor of Fine Arts

(Comprehensive)

Students entering the university with the objective of a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree are required to complete the foundation art requirements. During the first two years in the program, BFA majors, with the guidance of their advisors and instructors, are expected to decide upon a major area studio sequence as a part of their study plans. In their sophomore year, declared BFA majors will be required to submit a portfolio for faculty review before they can be approved as a BFA degree candidate. Students who submit portfolios which are not approved may, with the consent of their major advisor, reapply the following year. Students who are not admitted to the BFA program may complete their degree work as art majors in the Bachelor of Science program. BFA candidates are required to submit work and be accepted for the Annual Honors Exhibition prior to graduation.

Studio Areas: A minimum of 18 credits in sequence taken in one studio area. A minimum of 60 credits is required including the foundation courses plus three credits of drawing beyond ART 105 and 106. No minor required.
