Topics include: writing as a process (prewriting, drafting, revising and editing); text types (description, narration, argumentation and exposition); determining audience and purpose; rhetorical modes (methods of development); topic sentences; thesis statements; grammatical, structural and lexical choices; mechanics; coherence; unity; cohesion; clarity; and proper formatting. May include guided reading, listening and speaking practice.
