| Getting Your Nonprofit Noticed On the Internet |
|
If you work for a nonprofit agency
that has, or will soon have, a presence on the
Internet, then you certainly don't want the effort
to be in vain. To get noticed on the Internet people
have to know where you are. One of the best ways to
get the word out is to have your site included in
the various search engines located throughout the
"net".
It's like asking someone to include
your word in their dictionary. There are dozens of
these search engines and tracking them all down
isn't fun. The easiest way to access them all (or
most of them) is by using
Submit-It! Check it out. It will save you lots
of time.
Like many things on the web....its
also all about money. You can now "sponsor" certain
search terms as a means of floating to the top of
searches done on those search terms. See:
Overture -
When you advertise in Overture Premium ListingsT,
your organization appears on many of the top search
engines, including: Yahoo!, MSN, InfoSpace, Ask
Jeeves, AltaVista, and Netscape. The Overture "Search
Term Suggestion Tool" will help you figure out
how people are searching for your organization (The
terms that they are entering on the search engines).
The "current
bid tool" will tell you what advertisers are
currently paying to sponsor any given search term.
Google.com Advertising.
AdWords SelectT enables you to manage your own
account with cost-per-click (CPC) pricing.
