University of Wisconsin Extension - One of

FirstGov for Nonprofits (Formally the Nonprofit
Gateway) - The U.S. Government's official portal
to grants, loans and other assistance for
nonprofits.
Form 990 Web Site Project - Not a government
site but rather this is a site that demonstrates the
ability to store and retrieve Form 990 submissions.
All sizable nonprofit organizations must submit a
completed Form 990 annually. Many state governments
also rely on the 990 for nonprofit financial
reporting.

IRS Non-Profit List: The IRS now has an
online version of Publication 78, Cumulative
List of Organizations. It is intended to assist
you in learning if an organization is exempt
from federal taxation and, if so, determining
how much of your contributions to that
organization are tax deductible.
Tax Exempt Organization Tax Kit - This is a
packet of federal forms and publications for
tax-exempt organizations provided to you by the IRS
in a number of file formats.
Labyrinth Inc.- If you are going to solicit
funds you will likely have to register in each state
in which you intend to solicit funds. This usefull
site directs you to the registration contacts for
each state. This web site also contains a list of
the public disclosure statements which must appear
on all solicitation materials.
The Local Government Center, U.W. - Extension :
The mission of the Local Government Center is to
provide focus, coordination, and leadership to UW
System educational programs for local government,
and to expand the research and knowledge base for
local government education.
National Association of State Charity Officials (NASCO)
- The National Association of State Charity
Officials is a forum for the exchange of views and
experiences relating to charitable trust and
charitable solicitation issues. Membership in NASCO
is open only to representatives of US state agencies
with authority over charitable entities and/or
charitable solicitations.
