Climate Change Mitigation & Adaptation
-
Climate change
(as defined by the Intergovernmental Panel
on Climate Change) is a change of climate
which is attributed directly or indirectly
to human activity that alters the
composition of the global atmosphere and
which is in addition to natural climate
variability observed over comparable time
periods.-
Climate change mitigation refers to
slowing or stopping climate change.-
Adaptation is defined by the as
adjustment in natural or human systems in
response to actual or expected climatic
stimuli or their effects, which moderates
harm or exploits beneficial
opportunities.-
Resilience is defined as the capacity
of a system to absorb disturbance and still
retain its basic function and
structure.
